Look at the Face of Love

Monday, January 30, 2012 0 Comments A+ a-

Hey everyone!
I made this layout last night because I wanted to use my Tie the Knot cart again! This is my sister's husband when he saw her walking down the aisle. If you have seen the movie 27 dresses you will understand why I wanted this picture taken.

Sorry about the flash on the photo. I was trying a new setting on my camera.

I cut out the 'groom' and the 'love' from the cart!

Enjoy and happy creating.

Book Review: Essential Guide to Color

Monday, January 30, 2012 0 Comments A+ a-

I love this book!! It is great because it breaks down all the different colour schemes for you and shows you examples with each. I know that it doesn't sound all that great, but you really have to give it a chance!
It gives you tips on how to work with the different colours and how to make them pop out from the page in new ways.
It also comes with a colour wheel to show you all the combinations that complement each other for each category in the book.
This is a really great book for someone who is just starting to work with various colours and doesn't know where to start!

Road Trip 2-page layout

Sunday, January 29, 2012 0 Comments A+ a-

Hey everyone!
This is a layout that I made for our first road trip that we went on! It was very exciting for us, we rented a car and drove somewhere together for the first time!
I bought the paper for this layout right after we got back, but didn't make it for about 6 months. I took a really long time to get my pictures printed for it.

Anyway, here is the layout. No fancy cricut cuts, just some paper piecing, layering, and journalling.

Hope you enjoy it!

Cardz TV: Challenge 100

Monday, January 23, 2012 1 Comments A+ a-

I am catching up on my challenges today!

Here is my entry for the Cardz TV one. The challenge was to use any colours and carts that you want to as long as it is spring/summer themed. You can find it here

I used Create and Critter and Elegant edges for this card.

I coloured in the stamped image on the inside to match the outside ones.
Enjoy!

Card Challenge: Couple challenges in One!

Monday, January 23, 2012 7 Comments A+ a-

Hello again!
Here is my creation for the Whimsical Designs challenge over here
Also entered it here

For this card I used Elegant Edges for the case of the card in my gypsy and welded two shadow shapes together to make a shaped card. This shape is from page 65 and is called Flower3. I used the Shadow for the base of the card and then cut out the top layer as well.

The coffee cup is from Love you a Latte, a lite cartridge. It's Coffeecup1. Since this card is for someone that wants to have coffee with friends, I added the little 'friends' sticker with a border piece that would tie in all the colours used on this card.

If you get a chance, go on over and play along too!

A child's year cartridge: new colours

Monday, January 23, 2012 0 Comments A+ a-

Hi everyone!
I was using my Child's year cartridge today and I realized that I usually only use black for the main cut and white for the shadow. While after doing a google search, I noticed that other people have been using different colours for the cuts. So that got me thinking why don't I do that?
That's just what I did! I cut out some images using different colours instead of my usually black and white.

I chose some images for an upcoming mini-crop that I am having with my fiancee's mom. She hasn't really done any scrapbooking so it will be a learning experience for both of us. Me as the teacher and her as the student learning something new. I am going to be posting lots of projects that I have made over the few days she is here!

I am also thinking of taking notes of things that I tell her so I can share them with all other new scrapbookers!

Anyway, today I am making lots of images with the cricut for her to use so that it will cut down on a lot of time waiting for them to be cut and putting them together. That isn't to say that we won't be using it at all though!

I even made one cut in different colours, which did involve cutting it out several times until I got what I liked from it. I used the little girl pushing the doll carriage on page 68 to try this with because there were a few different things that I could cut out in different colours. I suppose if you really wanted to you could cut her head out etc. I didn't do that I just cut one out with her in a pink print, one for the grass, and one for the carriage. Then I shadowed it in blue to mimic the sky.

Still on both the cuts I made, I used black. So I challenged myself to do one that didn't have any black in it at all. So I cut the fairy from page 77 (not the shifted one). I cut her out in purple and shadowed it in pink! I know it's very typical to use pink and purple for a fairy but I think it turned out very nicely!

So there you have it, taking something that I normally do and changing it up so that I do something different! Little changes, but still something new for me!

Happy Birthday Winston

Hello everyone!
Today is my cat's 3rd birthday.
We haven't had him for that long though. We rescued him from the humane society when he was 1.5 years old.
He is a sweet boy. Always giving kisses and talking to us in his little voice that he has. We love him very much.
I know that I usually show scrapbooking and cards on my blog, but today is special. I will share a new page tomorrow.

Happy Birthday Winston!!

Miss you always

Hello!
This is a page that I made after my dog died. We had him for 17 years and he was really my baby. Shadow was a real member of our family.

I used my mind's eye Lime Twist collection for this page. I also used some Jillibean Soup stamps for the journal spot on the layout.  To make the clouds really pop out I lined them with a silver Martha Stewart pen and put some 3d foam squares under some ones that I cut out from a different piece of paper. The sentiments are also from that collection on the sticker page that accompanies it. For the title I used thickers.

Hope you all enjoy it!

Scrapbook Getting Sketchy in January

Wednesday, January 18, 2012 4 Comments A+ a-

I found this challenge over at Scrapping Everyday Miracles and thought that I would give it a try too. I have never really been all that good about scrap lifting layouts from sketches, but I think that this one turned out great!
Here are some pictures of it, including some shots of the details on the page.

I knew that I wanted my journaling to be a quote, so I chose one of my favourite book/movie quotes. If you can't read it, it's "...you have bewitched me body and soul, and I love...I love...I love you. I never wish to be parted from you from this day on." It's by Mr Darcy in Pride and Prejudice.

The pictures are of me and my fiancé, we really are best friends. Also I didn't use the cricut for this layout! Usually I add something from it, although I did use butterflies, and those DO end up in my layouts a lot!
On that note, I really want to get the border punch by Martha Stewart that makes butterflies!

Anyway, check out the challenge. There is still time left to enter!

Cardz TV Challenge 99

Here is my card for the Cardz TV Challenge #99.

The challenge was to make a card using any cartridge and colours that you wanted for New Years. I used Simply Charmed for the Party cut at 3.5 inches.

For the colour choice, I did something that I have never done before. I took inspiration from a book I read and just reached into my stash of scraps without looking! These are the colors that I pulled out.  I added some buttons and ribbon for finishing touches.
For a little something extra, I attached a chipboard piece that I have had forever!

Finally I wrote on the inside with white gel pen. Also added stickles to the middle of the "a" where I had hid the face on my gypsy.

Cricut Cart Review: Elegant Edges

Tuesday, January 17, 2012 0 Comments A+ a-

I like this cart. It's not one of my favourites yet, but I think that it could be.
What I really like is the book feature on it. You can make little mini albums so easily with this creative feature.
I also like that you can make those big sized die cute shapes that you buy in stores at home. It makes shopping easier and less expensive!

School Events

Friday, January 13, 2012 0 Comments A+ a-

hello everyone

Today I am going to share a layout with you that I made for our school's basketball game that we went to. I wanted to use my scrapbook kit for the layout and do something a little masculine and vintage. this is what came out of that thought process.

The paper I used is from BoBunny, I think it's the Gabrielle line but I'm not sure. The corner details are from dusty attic chipboard. You can't really tell in the picture but I put other patterned paper underneath them for added detailing. I added the flowers around the picture to draw the eye toward it and made a little journal spot with a label sticker.

have crafting!

Book Review: Big Book of Scrapbook Pages

Wednesday, January 11, 2012 0 Comments A+ a-

This book has tons of pages in it! So many layout ideas all packed into one small space. I like this book, but it doesn't have the same level of ideas for technique as some other books. It's a great book for getting ideas from though.

Happy Together

Hello everyone!

I made this layout a long time ago but I forgot to share it with all of you! The paper and element stickers come from October Afternoon 5 & Dime collection that came in a kit that I got.

I love the banner stickers at the top! that was my inspiration for this page. That and I had a lot of paper pieces left over from something else.

Hope you all like it!

This cart is a must if you enjoy drinking coffee and tea a lot! I used this cart recently to make a gift card holder for Christmas.
Such a sweet cart for all those hot beverages, and some cold ones too, that you share with loved ones!

New Years Resolutions

Tuesday, January 03, 2012 1 Comments A+ a-

How many people actually make New Years resolutions and keep them? I don't think that I have ever made any to be honest.
This year is going to be different! Not only am I going to make some I am going to try my hardest to keep them!

I am getting married in about a year and a half, so it is going to be my goal between now and then to lose a lot of weight! I want to look and more importantly feel good on my wedding day. Plus, all those pictures that are going to be taken I want to display them proudly in my home! This is goal number one, it is going to carry over into the next year too though.

Next is a blogging goal! I have to make something that is relevant to this blog or else it would be pointless to even write it here! I am going to tie it into my first goal though so that I can be more accountable for it. I am going to make a scrapbook chronicling my weight loss journey. I will write down things that I eat, keep receipts for good grocery shipping trips, take a weekly photo of myself to show the differences in my body. I will put all this stuff into a box and then at the end of my journey I will make a giant book showing how far I have come!
What do you think? Is this a good idea? I am hoping that I can do this because I think it will be a good way to really show what I have accomplished.

Finally, I am going to try and post a new entry for my blog twice a week! This is going to be a challenge for me because I have to keep up with school and work part-time too, something has to pay for this hobby of mine!

Hopefully I can achieve all of these things and really make myself proud!

Blessings to everyone in the New Year! Hope it's a good one for you.
